Rains lash Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Feb 16 (PTI) Heavy to moderate rain todaylashed most parts of Uttar Pradesh resulting in fall oftemperatures, official sources said here.

In Gorakhpur, the maximum temperature was recorded at18.5 deg C, which was seven degree below normal.

Incidentally, the eastern district received themaximum rainfall (19 mm) in the state.

Sultanpur saw the maximum at 17.3 deg C, nine notchesbelow normal, while Lucknow recorded 19.8 deg C, six notchesbelow normal.

The two places received 8 mm and 0.6 mm of rainfall,respectively.

Strong wind along with hailstorm and rain started latelast night and continued till evening in Gorakhpur, the MeToffice said.

The sudden change in weather brought down the daytemperature by upto 7 degrees below normal, the met officesaid.

The maximum was recorded at 18.5 deg C, while theminimum settled at 16.8 deg C.
