Inmates beat up jailor and doctor

Medininagar (Jharkhand), Feb 16 (PTI) Four persons,including jailor and a doctor, were today injured when a groupof jail inmates beat them up inside the Central Jail inPalamau''s headquarters town of Medininagar, a governmentofficial said.

"Jailor Mohammad Israel suffered injuries in his legwhile Dr Vijay Shankar Razak was beaten up severely on thewaist," Sub-divisional Magistrate Sudhir Kumar Das toldnewsmen here.

Sepoy Vijay Singh was admitted to a hospital with headinjuries, he said. An inmate, Upendra Singh, was also amongthe injured.

The police filed an FIR against eight inmates inconnection with the incident.

The inmates resorted to violence after one of theinmates, having no health problems, demanded admission to themedical room inside the jail, the official said.
