Infra investments have given boost to state economy: Sukhbir

Sri Mukatsar Sahib (Punjab), Feb 16 (PTI) PunjabDeputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said thestate''s infrastructure based growth model has accelerated theeconomy, besides opening new vistas of employment for youth.

Charging that Punjab�s economy remained stagnantduring five year Congress rule, Badal said it had picked uppace solely because of infrastructure based growth modeladopted by SAD-BJP government.

He said that Rs 1 lakh crore investment ininfrastructure sector during last four years, has providedfillip to all sectors including service, tertiary of theeconomy.

On power, Badal asserted that by year 2013, Punjabwould emerge as biggest exporter of power.

He said upcoming three domestic and three internationalairports would make Punjab most favoured destination in thecountry.

Badal said Punjab was focussing on encouragingstudents to opt for science and maths streams keeping in viewthe future job requirement of the industry.
