Constable suspended

Baripada (Orissa), Feb 16 (PTI) A woman constable wasplaced under suspension and disciplinary action initiatedagainst a police officer in Orissa''s Mayurbhanj district aftertwo youths escaped from police custody today.

Two youths, identified as Sonu Singh (24) and GobindSingh (25), escaped from Town Police Station here on thepretext of going to toilet, police said adding both weredetained for interrogation.

The police picked up the duo when they were roamingnear the local SBI in a suspicious manner. "We suspected theirmovement and picked up for interrogation," a policeman said.

They had given different address to the police.

While constable Jayanti Behera was placed undersuspension, departmental inquiry will be conducted onthe role of assistant sub-inspector P N Behera in the case,said Mayurbhaj SP Dayal Gangwar.
