Congress making ULFA cadre killings poll issue, says Mahanta
Guwahati, Feb 16 (PTI) Former Assam Chief MinisterPrafulla Kumar Mahanta today accused the Congress-led stategovernment of trying to make the secret killings of ULFAcadres during the erstwhile Asom Gana Parishad regime as anelection issue.
Charging Tarun Gogoi for being allegedly involved inthe "secret killing", Mahanta, also the leader of theopposition, demanded that a thorough probe should be orderedto bring out the truth.
Mahanta alleged that Gogoi and his Congress governmentwas trying to accuse his erstwhile AGP government in "secretkilling" keeping an eye on the ensuing election and to protectthe party''s vote bank.
He alleged that the government had totally failed tocontrol law and order and check corruption, including themulti-crore development fund scandal in North Cachar Hills.
