Barawafat festival passes peacefully in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Feb 16 (PTI) Barawafat festival today passedoff peacefully in Uttar Pradesh where traditional processionswere taken out at many places.

In Lucknow, procession of Madh-e-Sahaba passed offpeacefully as tight security arrangement, including heavydeployment of forces, was done by the administration to checkany untoward incident.

Tight security arrangements were made across the statefor the festivities.

"During Barawafat festival, 39 companies of PAC and 12companies of Rapid Action Force has been provided by the DGPheadquarters," Special Director General (law and order) BrijLal had said.

The maximum security personnel, including 10 companiesof PAC, four of RAF, was deployed in Lucknow.

"The district-level officers have directed not toallow any other procession other than the traditional onesthat too on fixed routes," the SDG had said.
