Sugar rises on increase in demand
Mumbai, Feb 16 (PTI) Sugar prices rose at the Vashiwholesale market here today due to rising demand fromstockists and bulk consumers along with good festive offtake.
Small sugar quality (S-30) went up by Rs 15 per quintalto Rs 2,786/2,851 from Tuesday''s closing level of Rs2,771/2,836.
Medium sugar quality (M-30) also gained Rs 5/10 perquintal to Rs 2,831/2,901, as against Rs 2,821/2,896yesterday.
The following are today''s closing rates per quintal, withthe previous rates in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,786/2,851 (Rs 2,771/2,836) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,831/2,901 (Rs2,821/2,896).
