KMC trying to make Kolkata free of water-logging
Kolkata, Feb 15 (PTI) Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjeetoday said that by taking up new projects, they are trying tomake the city free from water-logging.
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has taken upprojects for desiltation of drainage and sewerage system inthe city and its outskirts.
A total of Rs 2300 crore will be spend in the firstphase of the project by the end of this year and in the secondphase, Rs 2000 crore will be spend, the Mayor said.
"To revamp pumping stations, we will also replace oldpumps with new and modern ones across the city. Many pumps inthe city are very old, dating back to the British period. Thenew pumps will number around 300," Chatterjee said.
