Jeweller shot dead

Faizabad, Feb 15 (PTI) A 50-year-old jeweller wastoday shot dead here by motorcycle-borne men who fled withcash and jewellery that he was carrying, police said.

The incident took place late this evening in Bikapurtown in the district when Jai Prakash Soni, owner of ajewellery shop, was returning home in a cab, they said.

Two motorcycle-borne men, whose faces were covered,intercepted the car and fired at Soni from point blank range.

They took all the cash and jewellery that he was carrying andfled from the spot, the police said.

A seriously wounded Soni was taken to Faizabaddistrict hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Faizabad district police spokesman Vikram Singh toldPTI that investigations are on in the case.
