Iran MPs call for death sentence to opposition

IRNA, the official news agency of Iran quoted MPs as saying, "(Opposition leaders) Mehdi Karroubi and Mirhossein Mousavi are corrupts on earth and should be tried." 'Corrupts on earth', is a charge that carries death term in Iran.
Judicial spokesperson Mohseni-Ejei said, "Those who created public disorder on Monday will be confronted firmly and immediately."
Earlier on Feb 14, protesters and police clashed in Tehran, the capital of Iran, when opposition supporters took out a rally commemorating the revolts against regimes in Tunisia and Egypt.
The rallies were the biggest since the protests were held in 2009 against the re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Opposition parties alleged that the election was rigged in order to ensure that Ahmadinejad retained power.
