CPI opposes acquisition of agriculture land by LDA

Lucknow, Feb 16 (PTI) The CPI today opposed a move byLucknow Development Authority (LDA) to acquire "fertile" landin Chinhat area.

"Acquiring fertile land of farmers is not justifiedwhen unfertile lands were available elsewhere," CPI Statesecretary Girish said.

He alleged that it was an attempt "to grab the land offarmers and make them homeless".

A meeting of farmers from Shahpur, Simra and SaraiShekh villages was held in which it was decided to protest theLDA move "tooth and nail", the CPI leader said, adding hisparty would support the farmers agitation.
