Several old proposals repeated in MCD budget

New Delhi, Feb 14 (PTI) The MCD, which finalised its2011-12 budget today, presented several old proposalsincluding those related to parking and use of mechanicalsweepers for cleaning roads.

Among the recycled proposals were construction ofwomen''s toilets, gymnasiums in community centres andconstructing road overbridges and underbridges, among others.

A number of these projects are being implemented at asnail''s pace and being mentioned in the budget for the lastthree years.

MCD has been talking about constructing 21 multi-levelparking lits in the city for the past several years but not asinge one has been ready yet.

Former mayor and Congress councilor Farhad Suri saidthat MCD is not being able to implement many of the proposalsmentioned in its budget for many years.

"I have been observing this for the past three yearsthat same proposals are being repeated and most of them arenot being implemented," he claimed.
