New Delhi, Feb 15 (PTI) In a disappointment for BryanAdams'' fans, the Canadian rock star''s much-awaited concert inDelhi today was cancelled after police refused permission forit over security concerns.
The sold-out concert, which was scheduled for thisevening, was called off after the Delhi police said thelocation for the show in the NSIC exhibition grounds in Okhlaindustrial area of south east Delhi was not suitable for it.
The organisers of the show said that unexpected rainscoupled with the overwhelming public response for the show hadmade the venue "unsafe".
However, they said that the singer was keen toperform in New Delhi and a new date and venue was being workedout.
"The organisers are working towards finalising analternate venue and date to re-schedule the Bryan Adamsconcert in New Delhi since public safety is a priority," theorganisers said.
The 52-year-old singer of the ''Summer of 69'' hit, whohas sold nearly 70 million albums and 30 million singlesworldwide, has already performed in Bangalore and Mumbai.

"We have denied permission for the concert because ofsecurity concerns. The place chosen to organise the concert isnot suitable for this kind of a programme," a senior policeofficial said.
According to the official, the objection was mainlydue to the organisers selling more tickets than the capacityof the ground which can cater to only 6,000 people at a time.
"They have issued VIP and complimentary passes also.
There was no traffic plan despite the fact that the show wasto be held on a working day," the official said.
The official said police had informed the organisersabout the denial of permission on February 10 itself.
The official ticketing partner for the eventKyaZoonga asked people who had booked tickets online andthrough retail outlets to "not go to the NSIC venue to pick upyour tickets".
