Asasilants open fire on house, 2 girls injured
Srinagar, Feb 15 (PTI) Unidentified assailants tonightopened fire on the house of a government employee in Pattanarea of north Kashmir''s Baramulla district, injuring twogirls, official sources said.
The assailants carrying pistols broke the window panes ofthe house of Ghulam Mohiuddin Akhoon, an engineer in thestate�s Roads and Buildings Department, and opened fire on theinmates at Dorhama in Kreeri area of Pattan tehsil, 31 km fromhere, the sources said.
They said Akhoon�s 19-year-old sister Shaista Akbar andeight-year-old niece Momina were injured in the firing.
Both were taken to hospital at Kreeri for treatment andtheir condition was stated to be out of danger.
The gunmen escaped from the scene.
It was not immediately known why Akhoon family wastargeted by the gunmen but sources said he was earlierresiding in Model Town area of Sopore and had moved to thepresent residence some time back.
Suspected LeT militants had shot dead two sisters inSopore town a fortnight ago.
