Two held for couple''s murder

Coimbatore, Feb 14 (PTI) Two persons, aged 19 and 21, werearrested on charges of murdering a couple in Somanur in thedistrict last week and decamping with some money and goldornaments, a top police official said today.

The murdered man was running a powerloom unit inSomanur,West zone IG, P Sivanandi told reporters here.

The accused were working in the same powerloom unit.

Police had been monitoring their activities for the last oneweek and arrested them at Mettupalayam last night, he said.

They had confessed that on the night of February 5, theyhad gone to the man''s house and slit his throat,he said.

As the wife came out,they also murdered her in the samemanner and decamped with the valuables, he said.
