Temporary arrangement for Rio in DGP residence

Kohima, Feb 14 (PTI) In the aftermath of the fire thatdestroyed Nagaland chief minister''s official residence onFebruary 8, the government decided to use the officialresidence of state DGP as the temporary residence for NeiphiRio till re-construction of the damaged building wascompleted.

Chief secretary Lalthara in a release said there-construction of the residence at Ministers'' Hill area ofthe capital was expected to take about eight months.

Lalthara has also written to health minister KuzholuzoAzo and DGP K Kire following the two offering their residenceto the chief minister after the incident, informing them aboutthe government�s decision.

"After examining the offers, including the convenienceand security points of view, the state government has nowdecided to use the official residence of DGP," the lettersaid.

A fire on the night of February 8 damaged theresidential portion of chief minister�s office.

Fire was prevented from spreading to the office blockfrom the chief minister started functioning from the very nextday. At present Rio and his family are staying at theirpersonal residence at Kohima village.
