Regional rural baanks on warpath

Berhampur (Orissa), Feb 13 (PTI) Employees of 82Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) across the country would launchagitation in phases from February 28 to press for fulfilmentof their demands.

��������Their demands include pension, provident fundfacility and other benefits and allowances on par withemployees of sponsor banks and constitution of National RuralBank of India (NRBI) at the apex level.

��������"We have chalked out our agitation plan at the jointmeeting of officials of All India Gramin Bank WorkersOrganisation (AIGWO) and All India Gramin Bank OfficersOrganisation (AIGBOO) held at Nagpur last month", GeneralSecretary of AIGBOO AK Mishra said here today.

Mishra was here to attend the general body meetingof Rushikulya Gramya Bank Officers� Organisation (RGBOO).

��������As per the agitation programme, he said, employees ofthe bank would stage demonstration in front of RRB headquarteron February 28, sponsor bank head office on March 14, aprotest rally before parliament at New Delhi on April 8and nation-wide strike on May 16.

��������During the period, memoranda containing their demandswould be submitted to local MPs requesting them to forward thesame to the Prime Minister as well as union Finance Ministerfor implementation.

��������Mishra sad if the government did not come forward,functioning of the all RRBs across the country would beparalised after May 16.
