Pakistan seeks information about Rahat''s detention in India

Islamabad, Feb 13 (PTI) Interior Minister Rehman Maliktoday directed Pakistan''s High Commissioner to India ShahidMalik to inquire about the detention of well-known singerRahat Fateh Ali Khan at the Indira Gandhi InternationalAirport.
The minister is examining the matter, said an officialstatement issued hours after Khan was detained at the airportin Delhi on charges of carrying a large amount of undeclaredforeign currency.
Malik telephoned the Pakistani High Commissioner andasked him to monitor the matter, the statement said.
Khan, 37, is the nephew of legendary Pakistani qawwalisinger Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and has recorded many hit songsfor Bollywood movies. He regularly performs in India and wason his way back to Pakistan after a series of concerts when hewas detained.
