One killed, 2 injured in celebratory firing

Auraiyya, Feb 14 (PTI) One person was killed and twoothers injured in revelry firing by the gunner of a deputysuperintendent of police during a wedding in Achldah area, asenior officer said here today.

Hukkum Singh, deputy principal of an inter-college, diedafter being hit by a bullet fired by gunner Shahveer Singhwith the service rifle of Ram Kailash, who is also a gunner,during a marriage function in Garyae ka Nagla village lastnight, Deputy SP D K Rai said.

"Ram Kailash took his duty rifle with him from whichSingh fired four bullets in an inebriated state, killingHukkum Singh on the spot and injuring two others - Patiram andMahipal Singh," Rai said.

While Singh was absconding, Ram Kailash has been arrestedon charges of laxity, he said.
