Mumbai Mayor demands free WC match passes for BMC corporators

Mumbai, Feb 14 (PTI) City Mayor Shraddha Jadhav haswritten a letter to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA)demanding free passes for corporators for the World Cupmatches to be held at the Wankhede Stadium.

"We have written a letter to MCA asking them to providefree passes to corporators for the World Cup matches at theWankhede stadium," she said.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) providesbasic facilities at the stadium including water, sewerage, andelectricity so they must provide us the passes for thematches," she added.

Jadhav further said that special passes should beprovided to the Deputy Mayor and other Group leaders.

Presently, there are 227 corporators in the civic body.

The Wankhede hosts three matches of the quadrennialevent, which begins on February 19, including the final onApril 2.

Last week, BMC Standing Committee Chairperson RahulShewale''s demand of reserving 2,000 seats for students ofBMC-run schools for two World Cup matches -- New Zealand v/sCanada (March 13) and New Zealand v/s Sri Lanka (March 18) --was accepted by the MCA.
