Medium sugar edges up on retail buying

Mumbai, Feb 14 (PTI) Medium sugar prices firmed up at theVashi wholesale market here today due to pick up in demandfrom retailers amidst higher festive offtake.

On the other hand, small sugar variety ended slightlylower on subdued buying support.

Medium sugar quality (M-30) moved up by Rs 10/20 perquintal to Rs 2,821/2,891 from last weekend''s closing levelof Rs 2,801/2,881.

Small sugar quality (S-30), however inched down toRs 2,780/2,831 per quintal as agaisnt Rs 2,781/2,831previously.

The following are today''s closing rates per quintal, withthe previous rates in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,780/2,831 (Rs 2,781/2,831) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,821/2,891 (Rs2,801/2,881).
