J&K govt exgratia to kin of children who died in explosion

Srinagar, Feb 14 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir government todaysanctioned Rs five lakh each to next of the kin of the threechildren who were killed in an explosion in Malroo area of thecity.

"On the instructions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, hisadvisor Mubarak Gul announced Rs five Lakh as ex gratia to thefamily of each deceased," an official spokesman said.

Three siblings were killed in a blast inside the house ofMohammad Maqbool Bhat in Malroo area of the city last nightwhile another sibling and their mother were injured.

The children had brought home an unexploded shell leftover during an encounter in the area in October last year andwere fiddling with it.

He said Srinagar''s Deputy Commissioner has been asked toidentify a plot for the bereaved family so that they arerehabilitated in a proper manner for which the government willprovide all possible assistance.
