Insurgency problem improving in Helmand: UK commander
London, Feb 14 (ANI): The British commander in Helmand, Brigadier James Chiswell, has said insurgency is on the wane in the Afghan province of Helmand.
Brigadier Chiswell, however, said it was too early to judge how successful the past few months have been.
The BBC quoted him,a s saying that the insurgent groups are under immense pressure in the region. There's certainly a sense over this winter period that the insurgency is under a lot of pressure, but perhaps more importantly there's certainly a sense of growing local confidence to shake off the insurgency, and indeed to put their trust in the state," Brigadier Chiswell said, adding that British forces are also working in neighbouring Kandahar towards improving the situation there.
