Chinese railway minister sacked over corruption

Beijing, Feb 14 (ANI): China's Railways Minister, Liu Zhijun, has been sacked on charges of corruption, which are being investigated.

Zhijun has been China's Railways minister since 2003, The Telegraph reports.

Though no details are available on what charges are being probed, the government has replaced Liu with 62-year-old former Customs chief, Sheng Guangzu.

China plans to have 42 high-speed railway lines by next year, with 5,000 miles of track for trains that travel at 215 miles per hour. (ANI)
