175 entries for national level screening of tea
Coimbatore, Feb 14 (PTI): The seventh edition of TheGolden Leaf Indian Award Southern Tea Competition (TGLIA STC),has evoked a very good response, with a total of 175 entriesreceived for the national level screening at nearby Coonoor inNilgiris District today.
A six-member jury panel, representing major Indian teapacketers, exporters and leading brokers evaluated teas, CShreedharan, Convenor, Organising Committe, TGLIA STC, said.
The final testing session would be held here on February26, coinciding the National Convention on South India Tea,jointly organised by Tea Traders Association of Coimbatore andTea Board of India, Sreedharan said.
The winners would be announced the next day, he said,addingthat the competition generated intense competition among sixtea growing regions to produce better teas.
