Woman kills self after poisoning two girl children

Cuttack (Orissa), Feb 12 (PTI) A middle-aged womanallegedly committed suicide after poisoning her two infantgirl children, the police said today.

The girls are recovering in SCB medical college andhospital here while the police are on the lookout of woman�sabsconding husband after her parents alleged that theirdaughter was murdered.

�������� The incident had taken place late on Friday eveningin Deulichuan village under Choudwar police station, about 20kms from here.

According to police, the body of Rashmirekha Naik(35) was found hanging from the ceiling of her house tied inher saree while the children � aged four and two - were lyingunconscious on the floor.

Suspecting that the children were poisoned, weimmediately shifted them to Cuttack hospital where they arestated to be out of danger after preliminary treatment,"police inspector Niranjan Padhy said.

Meanwhile, Rashmi''s parents who rushed to thevillage after hearing the news alleged that their daughter wasconstantly tortured by her in-laws and suspect that it was apre-planned murder.

Following murder allegations, police are nowquestioning the woman''s relative and refuse to give an opinionuntil investigations are complete. At the insistence ofRashmi''s parents, police have registered a case against herhusband who is absconding since the incident took place.

"We have already launched a massive manhunt to nabthe husband of the woman�, Padhy said refusing to identify theabsconder on plea that it would hamper investigation.
