WB Police seize arms and ammunitions from CPI-M leaders
Burdwan, Feb 13 (ANI): West Bengal Police have seized a huge cache of arms and ammunitions from Burdwan district.
The arms recovered were a U.S. made 9 mm pistol, one sten carbine gun, and around 35 rounds of cartridges from the house of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-M) leaders Najim Sekh and Atar Sekh on Saturday.
"We recovered some fire arms and ammunition from Bindugram village after a search operation. But until the investigation is complete and forensic report comes, we are unable to say that these arms were looted from Silda camp by Maoists," said Tirthendu Ganguly, the officer in charge of Mongalkote police station.
"We recovered sten carbine, two magazines, one 9mm pistol and 35 rounds of cartridges. No arrests have been made till now," added Ganguly.
According to reports, the two CPI-M leaders managed to escape before the raid.
The officers of the Election Commission had visited the villages in the state a few days back and ordered the police to seize illegal arms. (ANI)
