Travel agent couple booked for duping two brothers

Phagwara, Feb 12 (PTI) Phagwara police today lodged acomplaint against a travel agent couple for allegedly dupingtwo brothers of Rs 20 lakh on the pretext of sending them toCanada.

Simarjeet Singh and Pardeep Singh of nearby village Pandwahad lodged a complaint with Phagwara SP Kamaljeet SinghDhillon, alleging that Jagmohan Sharma and his wife had strucka deal with them for Rs 30 lakh on the promise of settlingthem permanently in Canada within a month.

They had given Rs 20 lakh in October last year to thecouple and promised to pay the remaining amount after gettingthe visas, police said.

They had also given their passports to the couple.

When the couple didn''t send them abroad within thestipulated time, the brothers went to them.

Though their passports were returned, the couple did notgive back the amount.

A case under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminalbreach of trust) was registered against the couple.

No arrest has yet been made.
