Mubarak exit: Mirwaiz says people''s aspirations triumphed
Srinagar, Feb 13 (PTI) Chairman of the moderateHurriyat faction Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has welcomed the steppingdown of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, saying it provedthat people''s aspirations cannot be suppressed for long by useof "brute force".
"We welcome the stepping down of Hosni Mubarak as thePresident of Egypt, bowing to the wishes and demands of thepeople. It has proved that people''s aspirations cannot besuppressed for too long by using brute force," he said in astatement today.
He said history was filled with examples thatdictators and autocratic rulers may have temporarily succeededin "muzzling the the people''s voice but in the long run, theyhave had to bow before the masses."
Lauding the Egyptian Army for exercising restraintwhile dealing with protesters, Mirwaiz alleged that in Kashmir"whenever people have demanded their rights and voiced justdemands, the barrels of guns have been opened on them."
He also sought support from the internationalcommunity for resolution of the Kashmir issue as "it was donein case of Egyptian people." PTI MIJ PRI
