Eight dacoits arrested in Bardhaman district

Bardhaman (WB), Feb 13 (PTI) Eight dacoits were todayarrested on their way to commit a crime in a jewellery shopfrom Purbasthali, about 65 km from here, police said.

Acting on a tip off, police intercepted a car, carryingthem, and took them to custody. The eight-member gang, led bySheikh Sonabul, was coming from the pilgrim town of Nabadwipin Nadia district to loot a jewellery shop at Samudragarh,near Purbashali.

Police recovered from them three revolvers and someamount of explosives besides sharp weapons.

Sheikh Sonabul was wanted in several cases of dacoityand abduction both in Bardhaman and adjacent Nadia districts,police said.
