Car owner surrenders in child kidnapping case
Ambala, Feb 12 (PTI) The owner of a car which was usedin the kidnapping of an eight-year-old student of Army Schoolin cantonment area today surrendered in a court here.
The car owner, identified as Parvinder Singh, aresident of village Tisambli in Mohali, surrendered beforeCivil Judge Taranjit Kaur who sent him to judicial custody.
Vansh, a Class II student, was kidnapped on February10 near his residence here when he was returning from hisschool. The kidnappers had been demanding a ransom of Rs 80lakh from his parents.
Police intercepted the car of the kidnappers andrscued the boy. They succeeded in nabbing one of the accused--identified as Gurpreet-- after a short encounter near Barwalawhile the other kidnapper escaped.
According to sources, police will seek permission fromthe court to conduct a test identification parade of Parvinderon the jail premises.
Avtar Singh, father of Parvinder, told reportersoutside the court that his son was not involved in thekidnapping.
He said that a driver had taken his car for going to awedding function.
