Railways to conduct re-exam for loco pilots post on Sunday

Vadodara, Feb 11 (PTI) Union Minister of State for Railways Bharat Solanki will inaugurate second entry ofVadodara railway station from Alkapuri here tomorrow.

It was late Madhavrao Scindia, who in his tenure asRailways Minister gave approval to its construction afterbeing convinced about its need in the city, with a populationof more than 7 lakhs.

The inauguration of this second entry to the station ,will help in easing traffic congestion in the station area.

Talking to PTI here today, A K Srivastava, DivisionalRailway Manager, Vadodara division of Western Railway said asum of Rs 11 crores has been spent to design it and to ornateit in Gaekwad style architecture.

Gaekwad was the ruler of erstwhile princely state ofBaroda for 200 years and it was he who constructed narrowgauge track for running country''s first narrow gauge trainbetween Pratapngar and Dabhoi 150 years ago.

The construction cost includes construction of newplatform, yard facilities and several other related matters.

The division had organised a number of functions lastmonth on the completion of 150 years of train arrival here.

Inauguration of the second entry effective from tomorrowwill see atleast 22 trains arrive and depart from platformnumber-7, Pradeep Banerjee, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager,Vadodara division, Western Railway said.

Uptil now, these trains arrived and departed fromplatforms number 1-5, he said.
