Police officers in Cypriano case must be arrested: Pacheco

Panaji, Feb 10 (PTI) Goa''s former Tourism MinisterFransisco Mickky Pacheco today demanded that policemeninvolved in the custodial death of Cypriano Fernandes bearrested in 24 hours.

"I demand that the guilty officers are named and arrestedwithin 24 hours, failing which I shall launch an agitation toensure that they are booked," Pacheco said in a pressstatement.

Cypriano was arrested on January 7 after his friendcomplained that he threatened her. He later died in hospital,allegedly because policemen beat him while in custody.

Three policemen, including Inspector Sandesh Chodankarwere suspended for "procedural lapses".

The crime branch has filed a case of murder againstunknown policemen in connection with Cypriano''s death.

Pacheco demanded that FIR be changed, to name each andevery officer on duty. PTI RPS KRKAHM
