Govt employees from Telangana to join non-cooperation movement

Hyderabad, Feb 12 (PTI) Ignoring the appeal made by theFinance Minister, the state government employees fromTelangana today vowed to participate in the non-cooperationmovement from Februay 17 announced by pro-Telangana groups toachieve the statehood for the region.

State Finance Minister A Raama Narayana Reddy and othersheld a meeting with the Telangana government employeesassociations today and urged them not to participate in thenon-cooperation movement.

"This government will abide by whatever decision istaken by the Centre on the Telangana issue. You are all partof the government. We request you to cooperate with thegovernment. People of the region should not be deprived of thebenefits of the welfare schemes," Reddy said.

However, Swamy Goud, leader of the Telangana Non-GazettedOfficers Association, said "they cannot remain as mutespectators when people are observing non-cooperation movementto achieve Telangana".

The Telangana political Joint Action Committee (JAC),that comprises TRS, BJP and various people''s organisations,has called for the non-cooperation agitation from February 17.

TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao had earlier saidpublic transport, government offices, educational institutionsand even courts would not function as part of the"non-cooperation" stir.
