Goa sees 15 per cent jump in tourist arrivals in 2010
Panaji, Feb 12 (PTI) Goa continues to be a populardestination for tourists as the coastal state received around26 lakh holiday-makers in 2010, a 15 per cent jump over theprevious year, officials said today.
Statistics available with the Tourism Department showthat there was an overall 17 per cent increase in the foreigntourist arrivals between January and December 2010.
A total of 4.41 lakh foreign tourists visited thestate known for its sandy beaches. On the domestic front,there was an increase of 3.5 per cent, they said.
In all, 22 lakh domestic tourists visited Goa asagainst 21 lakh in 2009. The months of November and Decembersaw the maximum tourist inflow.
December saw arrival of 1.01 lakh foreign tourists inGoa, while the figure for the domestic travellers was 3.9lakh, the official added.
