EC observers visit West Bengal for second time
Kolkata, Feb 11 (PTI) A three-member team of ElectionCommission observers, led by Bihar Chief Electoral OfficerSudhir Kumar Rakesh, today visited West Bengal for the secondtime to assess the law and order situation ahead of theAssembly polls.
Speaking to reporters after the conference, Rakeshsaid, "I have received some complaints and so we have comehere. We will go to two districts today and two districtstomorrow."
When asked whether they will go to Darjeeling wherethe law and order situation has deteriorated considerably inthe last couple of days, Rakesh said "If needed we will gotto Darjeeling even".
According to Election commission sources, the observerteam today had a video conference with the DistrictMagistrates and Superintendents of Police of seven districts-- Darjeeling, Bankura, Howrah, North 24 Parganas, East andWest Midnapore and Burdwan.
A two-member team of observers comprising Jitendra Prasadand R P Ranpisse, left for East Midnapore today.
