Kolkata, Feb 11 (PTI) The CPI-M today alleged thatTrinamool Congress was behind the latest violence in theDarjeeling hills as part of its ''designs'' to createlawlessness in West Bengal ahead of the Assembly polls.
"We hold Trianmool Congress responsible for fomentingtrouble both in the Maoist strongholds of Jangalmahal as wellas the Darjeeling hills ahead of the Assembly elections in thestate," CPI-M politburo member and party''s state secretaryBiman Bose said here.
Releasing a CD titled ''Ashanta Samay'' (Time of Unrest) atthe CPI-M headquarters, Bose said it had become amply clearthat Trinamool had close links with Maoists in fomentingtrouble in the Maoist-infested West Midnapore, Bankura andPurulia districts.
Bose alleged Trinamool''s link with the Maoists had beentraced to the Lok Sabha polls and that despite the party''sdenial "it has been amply proved that Union ministers fromTrinamool Congress and party leaders had shared dais withMaoists and Maoist-backed Peoples Committee against Policeatrocities in the Jangalmahal area."
The CPI-M leader alleged that the Trinamool Congress hadbeen carrying on a ''sustained and systematic'' politics ofviolence in the state, the latest being in Darjeeling.
He observed that had the police not resisted the GJMprocession in the 144 CrPC-bound area at Sipchu on Februaryeight, the mob would have approached Dooars.
