Sembcorp infuses Rs 364-cr in power JV with Gayatri

Hyderabad, Feb 11 (PTI) Gayatri Projects Limited, acity-based infra firm today said Sembcorp Utilities Pte Ltdhas infused first tranche of equity of Rs 364 crore in itspower project joint venture Thermal Powertech CorporationIndia Limited (TPCIL).

TPCIL, a joint venture between Gayatri Energy Ventures(GEVL) and Sembcorp''s wholly-owned Utilities business, issetting up 1,320 megawatts (2 units of 660 megawatts)coal-fired power plant at Krishnapatnam, Nellore district inAndhra Pradesh.

TPCIL has already achieved the financial closure and hassigned definitive agreements with lenders for a debt of Rs5,151 crores.

It has already started construction of its power facilityin Krishnapatnam, SPSR Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh.

Commercial operations of the facility are expected to becommenced in the next 36 months.

The plant will be operated and maintained by Gayatri,Sembcorp O&M Company, a separate operations and maintenancecompany incorporated for this purpose.

The company is planning to expand its capacity in thesame location by a further 1320 MW in Phase II, thus takingthe total capacity to 2640 MW.
