BSP MP case: Court adjourns hearing to Feb 18

Muzaffarnagar, Feb 10 (PTI) A court today adjourned toFebruary 18 the hearing of a six-year-old criminal caseagainst BSP MP Kadir Rana and 11 party workers.

Additional District Sessions judge S K Banerjiadjourned the case as inspector Vijay Kumar did not appear inthe court as witness from the prosecution side, court sourcessaid.

The case relates to an incident at Shamli town in thedistrict in 2004.

The local MP and 11 party workers were allegedlyinvolved in violent protests outside the District Magistrate''shouse, protesting the arrest of the then BSP candidateShanawaz Rana for violating the code of conduct during LokSabha polls.

The charges framed against them include rioting,attempt to murder, violating prohibitory order, wrongfulconfinement and assault and criminal force to deter publicservant from discharging his duty.
