Americans split over GOP efforts to repel Obama administration's health care law: Poll

Washington, Feb 11 (ANI): Although most American voters are in support of the "old" health care system, a majority of them believe that opponents of President Obama's historic 2010 health care law will fail to repeal it, a latest Fox News poll has found.

By a 48-42 percent margin, more voters would rather go back to the health care system that was in place in 2009. Voters belonging to 65 years category and over are among those most likely to want to turn back the clock, while 57 percent think that would be better than the new law, Fox News quoted the poll, as saying.

Views among parents are mixed, with 44 percent saying that they are fine with the new law, while 46 percent want to return to the 2009 system.

Only over a third of voters (35 percent) believe that the health care law will eventually be repealed. A 56 percent majority thinks attempts to revoke the law will be unsuccessful in the long run, the report said.

Voters are evenly split in how they view Congressional Republicans' attempts to repeal the health care law, with the latest poll claiming that 49 percent respondents view it as "an important effort," while 48 percent consider it "a waste of time,"

While 50-40 percent of Republicans believe the health care law will be repealed, most Democrats (72 percent) and just over half of independents (53 percent) do not think the repeal effort will be successful. (ANI)
