Five senior officials get notice for delaying response to RTI

Jhajjar, Feb 10 (PTI) The State Information Commissiontoday issued notice to five senior officials of the HaryanaPower Corporation for allegedly delaying information sought byan RTI activist regarding the purchase of power meters by thedepartment.

The commission also directed the officials to furnishwritten reply to the appellant''s application by March 30,besides appearing before its bench on April 19 when the casecomes up for hearing.

RTI activist Subhash had filed an application onJune 17, seeking information about the buying process of powermeters and the names of companies from where they werepurchased.

Besides, he also sought information about the frequencyon which meters are being changed, how many have beeninstalled in rural and urban areas so far and the number ofpeople who have benefited from the power bill waiving scheme.

"The State Public Information Officer on July 12 sent theapplication to the Finance Commissioner and PrincipalSecretary of the Power Department for furnishing the soughtinformation...but all the officials failed to supply me theentire information in time," said Subhash.
