President slammed; Raj Minister asked to resign

Pratibha Patil
Jaipur, Feb 10: Rajasthan minister Amin Khan has been asked to resign from his post after his remarks against President Pratibha Patil created much controversy.

Government officials confirmed that Rajasthan Chief minister Ashok Gehlot asked Khan to submit the papers of resignation.

Some strong reactions against Amin Khan:

Reacting strongly on the issue, President office spokesperson stated, "The veracity of the statement is being ascertained." BJP leader stated, "It is shameful for entire women community."

"We are hurt. It is for the Congress leadership to take a call (on action against him)," stated Pratibha Patil's husband Devi Singh.

Congress leader Lokendra Singh Kalvi claimed, "The chief minister should not only seek his resignation but expel him from Congress for making derogatory remarks against the country's constitutional head."

The Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also understood to have talked to the President and expressed regret over the remarks made by Mr Khan.

Amin Khan's clarification and apology to the President:

Defending himself, Amin Khan claimed, "I was just trying to advise disgruntled Congress workers to work selflessly and be faithful and committed like Patil."

"What gain will I derive by hurting the President,' Amin added and continued as saying, "I am sorry. Please consider it my mistake."
