US looking for more defence sales
Bangalore, Feb 8 (PTI) US was looking at possibly moredefence sales and strategic cooperation to further deepen itsrelationship with the country, American Ambassador to IndiaTimothy J Roemer said today.
Reiterating President Barack Obama''s commitment toenhance its strategic relationship with India, paving the wayfor a two-way street, he said, US was also looking at morecooperations and business opportunities in the field ofinfrastructure and developing airports.
Addressing reporters here on the eve of Aero India 2011,Roemer said US had brought to Bangalore "superior technology"at "the best price" for the show.
Gary Locke, US Secretary of Commerce, said "commerce isan important link in the relationship".
On defence related agreements, Timothy said signing ofthe defence foundational agreements, including LogisticsSupport Agreement, would mean "huge benefits would accrue toIndia."
He said if India were to sign such an agreement it wouldmean "even better technology going back and forth from US toIndia". However, he stressed, "This is your governmentdecision, we are not pushing for it." PTI JD MSR VS
