US Consulate contacts Pak Punjab Govt. for murder-accused diplomat's release
Lahore, Feb 9(ANI): The United States Consulate has contacted Pakistan's provincial government of Punjab and demanded the release of double murder-accused US diplomat Raymond Davis.
The US Consulate has asked the Punjab government to provide assistance for the release of Davis, who was arrested after shooting two Pakistani men to death, allegedly in self-defence.
The provincial government told the US officials to wait for the court's decision in this regard as the matter remained sub-judice, The Nation reported.
The government also demanded the handover of five other accused involved in a hit-and-run incident, which killed a citizen Abdul Rehman. However, the US Consulate did not respond to the government demand, the report said.
According to reports, the US Consulate has also contacted with the families of the two men killed in the Lahore firing incident, and offered them green cards and financial assistance. (ANI)
