Three women kidnapped WWF volunteers released
Kokrajhar (Assam), Feb 8 (PTI) Three women WWFvolunteers, abducted along with three male colleagues, werereleased today somewhere along the Assam-Bhutan border, twodays after being taken away.
The three were freed unharmed at a remote place alongthe border by the abductors, Bongaigaon Superintendent ofPolice Nitul Gogoi told PTI.
The three are Srabana Goswami hailing from Guwahati,Pallavi Chakravarty from Shillong and Tarali Goswami ofNalbari.
The six World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for Naturevolunteers were kidnapped by unidentified persons on Sundayfrom the Ultapani area in this district where they were onanimal census work of tigers and elephants of the Manas TigerReserve, a world heritage site.
Gogoi said massive search operation is on to rescuethe other three -- Syed Naushad Zaman of Golaghat, GautamKishore Sarma of Guwahati and Pranjal Saikia of Nagaon.
Meanwhile, police sources said that NDFB (anti-talk)faction was involved in the kidnapping.
