Google Nexus S mobile to hit Oz; soon in India

Melbourne, Feb 9: The Google smartphone that made big headlines in UK and US is set to hit the Australian market. Yes, we are talking about the giant, Google Nexus S smartphone. Vodafone Australia has announced that Nexus S mobile will hit the Australian market soon.

The google Android 2.3 Gingerbread powered Nexus S is manufactured by the world's second largest handset maker Samsung. Gadget market analysts predicted that the launch of Nexus S in Australia will be a great threat to the Apple iPhone, which has a huge market share.

Some of the analysts added Android devices will exceed the sale of Apple iPhones in Australia by 2013. Low cost, variety of applications and openness help Android devices to get more acceptance.

The Nexus S smartphone has a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen display and a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. The front facing VGA camera offers video calling facility. It is powered with 1 GHz Hummingbird processor.

The Nexus S is the first Android phone with a built-in near-field communication (NFC) chip, which helps users to make a payment by waving a device over an electronic reader.

This new phone offers 512 MB RAM and 16GB internal memory with micro SD support upto 32 GB. Other features include Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, Internet Calling and copy-and-paste functions.

Vodafone has not yet announced the exact release date and price of Google Nexus S in Australia. Sources close to Google reported that Nexus S will be launched in India soon.
