Six Garhwal Rifles jawans sent to jail

Dehradun, Feb 8 (PTI) Six armymen were arrested forallegedly indulging in a brawl with policemen near Premnagararea here, police said.

The soldiers of 5th Garhwal Rifles in an inebriated stateclashed with each other when the policemen asked them to stopthe violence following which the jawans attacked him nearPremnagar police station area, they said.

The accused were produced before the Additional DistrictMagistrate Bhasin Ahmed today, who sent them to jail, theysaid, adding all the jawans will remain in prison tilltomorrow after which they will handed over to the army.

As per the rules, the officials of "Garhwal Rifles" willapply to get the custody of armymen and then needful actionwill be taken against them, officials said.
