Silver rises to regain 45-k level, gold edges up

Mumbai, Feb 8 (PTI) Silver prices rose at the bullionmarket here today to regain Rs 45,000 per kilo on the back offresh stockists buying as well as industrial support triggeredby buoyant overseas cues.

Gold edged higher on mild local buying interest fromjewellery makers.

Silver ready (.999 fineness) firmed up by Rs 130 per kiloto close at Rs 45,105 from Monday''s closing level of Rs44,975.

Standard gold (99.5 per cent purity) moved up by Rs 5 per10 grams to settle at Rs 20,005 from Rs 20,000 yesterday.

Pure gold (99.9 per cent purity) also ended slightlyhigher by a similar margin to Rs 20,105 as compared to Rs20,100 previously.

In New York, silver for March delivery gained by 28 centsto USD 29.34 an ounce, while gold softened by 80 cents to USD1,348.20 an ounce.
