Railway official shot dead in Manipur

Imphal, Feb 9 (PTI) A Railway official who was in chargeof construction of railway track in Imphal East districtwas shot dead by miscreants in Manipur, police said today.

Pintu Das (32), the officer in charge of the constructionwork at Jiribam, about 222 km from here, was gunned downlate last night, the police said.

Das, who hailed from Tripura, died of bullet wounds.

No one has claimed responsibility for the killing, thepolice said.

Monetary demand could be one of the reasons behind thekilling, the police said.
