Pakistan cabinet resigns for 'right sizing' in bid to cut down govt expenditures
Islamabad, Feb 9(ANI): Federal Cabinet ministers of Pakistan have tendered their resignations to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, who intends to dissolve the cabinet and appoint a smaller version to tackle the economic problems plaguing the country.
The ministers submitted their resignations during the last meeting of the current cabinet held on Wednesday (today). State Ministers were not invited for the meeting.
"Today's meeting is going to be the last meeting of the present cabinet," Geo TV quoted Gilani, as telling the cabinet.
Hailing the performances of the cabinet ministers, the PM said that 77 per cent of the cabinet's decisions had been implemented so far, while 175 other decisions were in the process of being implemented.
The PPP's Central Executive Committee (CEC) had decided in its last meeting to 'right size' the Federal Cabinet under 18th Amendment of the Constitution and in consultation with the coalition partners of the PPP-led government with a view to cut down government expenditures. (ANI)
